Editorial Experiences a Deal – Swordfern Emporium

We recently visited Swordfern Beauty Sanctuary in Harrington Street, Cape Town - a lovely space run by two sisters who have a passion for organics and beauty.

One of our team members went down there for a exfoliation massage and this is what she had to say:

Swordfern Emporium – on Harrington Street in Cape Town – was an easy choice for a first-time massage-ee – mostly because of their catchy name, but luckily, there’s more to them than just a knack with words.

As someone who didn’t really know what to expect, it was great to be greeted with such a warm ambience, with smiles and friendly handshakes from everyone. Though it sounds cliché, the atmosphere really did have a warm feeling to it, and everything from the kind staff to the open walls and nature-like décor made me feel comfortable and relaxed from the get-go.

Swordfern Emporium performs a range of beauty and hair services, though I was rather surprised to see a couple of guys getting haircuts when I walked in.
The massage itself was amazing – 45 minutes of bliss. After a bit of admin – apparently, new patrons need to fill in a form to notify the therapist of medical conditions and so forth – my therapist showed up and explained the procedure to me before telling me to just relax and enjoy it – which I did.

Even though this was my first experience with massage, I have to say it was amazing. An exfoliation massage, they used a chocolate scrub that made my skin feel brand new, and I was literally walking on cloud nine – they got rid of knots and aches I didn’t even know I had, and I didn’t know it was possible to feel so relaxed.

Bottom line, Swordfern Emporium is definitely the place to go if you’re new to massage, and I’ll definitely be going back the next time I feel some tensions creeping in.
